Y5’s Winning Day Out..
Uncategorized No Comments »On Wednesday, Y5 were lucky enough to visit The Walker Art Gallery and Liverpool Museum thanks to Lauren’s winning entry in the Walk to School Week Design a Mascot Competition. Bethany (Y1) and Mark (Y6) who were runners up in the competition came along with us.
After feeling like celebrities and being photographed for the local newspaper, we made our way inside.
In the morning the children had a tour of the Gallery where they collected ideas in a sketch book which they then used to design and make a fan which they took home with them.
In the afternoon, we visited the Museum and had a session in the Natural History Centre where we got up close and personal with a variety of bugs and creatures! (I had to leave the room when the big scary tarantulas made an appearance but I don’t think anybody noticed!!!)
The day was a tremendous success as the children learned lots and got to experience a range of wonderful things. At the end of the day, Green Park children were complimented by the Museum staff for their enthusiasm and excellent behaviour which was lovely to hear.
Well done boys and girls and a special thanks once again to Lauren.

Raffa Bearnitez was so pleased he stopped playing on his Playstation!
Uncategorized Tagged Raffa No Comments »Y1’s bear, Raffa Bearnitez, was so pleased and excited to see a lovely get well card from Sophie and Jessica – and their mum and dad, that he stopped playing on his Playstaton to have a look.
Mr Rafferty really appreciated the kindness and thoughtfulness of everyone in the Jones house. Hopefully I’ll be back running soon(ish)!
Still Life – Picasso Style!
Uncategorized No Comments »In Art, we have been studying Picasso and trying to recreate his style of ‘Cubism’.
We have followed this process:
1) We initially experimented with still life pencil drawings in our sketch books.
2) In pairs, each of us produced a still life drawing on A3 of either flowers, fruit, bread, pine cone or shell.
3) We then each painted our A3 picture and all of the background.
4) Finally, we added detail to each picture using pastels.
Here are the pictures so far!
