Big Writing

Uncategorized No Comments »

Today, Y5 put their writing skills to excellent use in our Big Write.

The boys and girls had to write a story beginning of their choice, using either dialogue, action or description.

The finished pieces were fantastic! I think we have some budding authors in the class because I certainly wanted to read on…

Take a look at them working hard with the music playing, candles burning, dimmed room, sweets to nibble on…

Jobs for ICT this morning…

1) RM Maths

2) Complete your spreadsheet from last week to show the total number of boys and girls in each class, then in the whole school. Remember to make your spreadsheet look as attractive as possible by changing the format, font, shading, size of cell etc…

3) Pass Survey:

At school, we are taking part in a survey about children and young people’s lives; how you see yourself and Green Park School. A survey is a lot of questions about you. It is not a test; there is no right or wrong answer - it is your own opinions and thoughts that we value. Please take your time and read each question carefully. Just try and answer as truthfully as you can. Make sure you ask if you are not sure of what to do at any time.

When you are ready, follow the instructions below and go through each question carefully. It shouldn’t take any more than 15 minutes to complete the survey.

Go to Shared Drive (S:)

Green Park Primary School Pass Shortcut (the big blue e)!

Thank you!

Water Safety 2009

Uncategorized 1 Comment »

Each Friday morning, for four weeks, Mr Deakin (MBE) is giving up his time to teach the boys and girls in Y5 a valuable course in Water Safety.

Last week we watched a video which informed us all about the dangers that can exist in or around water.

This week, the children were taught how to carry out the vital part of the course; resuscitation.

Over the next couple of weeks, the children will have to do their best to pass a written test as well as carry out a practical assessment to achieve the Certificate in Water Safety. This will provide them with the necessary skills to enable them to save the life of anyone in difficulty in or around water, should they ever find themselves in such a situation.

I’m sure that you will agree, this is a very worthwhile course for the children and we are very grateful to Mr Deakin for giving up his valuable time to support us.
