Josh and his adventures in Kickboxing
Josh’s mum has sent us a super description of the hard work and determination of Green Park’s hero.
Josh joined LKA (Liverpool Kickboxing Association - small club based in Fazakerly) in Feb ’07 and has been training there for 2/3 nights per week. As his skills progressed he was entered into competitions held mostly in the North West. In March 2008 he took part in the English Championships and qualified to represent England in the WKA (World Kickboxing Association) World Championships in Florida this year.
Leading up to this Josh trained really hard - up to 5 nights per week and sometimes even before school ! This all proved to be so worthwhile as he was super fit and he won a gold medal in semi - contact (beating a Brazilian boy in the final) and another gold medal in light contact (beating an American boy in the final) in the under 25kg boys category.
Altogether there were 6 children (4 boys/2 girls) and 2 adults (one of whom is Josh’s trainer) from LKA who took part in this competition and between them they brought home 10 gold, 1 silver and 3 bronze medals.
Josh has had a magnificent experience and had a wonderful trip, travelling there and back with the England squad and he also managed to spend a few days at the Disney parks with his Dad.
Thank you once again for all the support we have received from school along with the lovely cards and good wishes - I’m sure you will agree he has done us all proud !
