Music

Posted in Uncategorized on January 31, 2008 by year5

Over the past three Thursdays, we have been very lucky to have Dr. Howard, the Head of Music at Deyes High School, giving us some extra music sessions. The children really enjoyed the lessons where they were given the opportunity to listen, compose and perform as well as find out about some unusual instruments.

Take a look at the boys and girls in action…

This week in Y5…

We have had a busy week!

Our Picasso work in Art is coming along nicely. We have drawn and painted our still life pictures. Now, we just need to add pastels before we start to…CUT THEM UP!!!

On Thursday, we had a special visit from the Head of Music at Deyes High. He brought his bassoon in and played a few tunes for us before we all had a chance to play ‘Copy Cat’ using the percussion instruments. He is coming back for the next two Thursdays which should be great fun!

Today, we had a fun afternoon. We had a ‘relaxing’ session where we did some Guided Visualisation. Then, after updating our ‘What I am proud of this week’ certificates we looked at some cool optical illusions from the internet.

Check this one out! Do you see people or faces???

Have a good weekend boys and girls.

Don’t forget that Life Saving starts on Monday afternoon.

ICT Today

In ICT today, we are going to develop your word processing skills.

After we have read the story of ‘The Little Match Girl’, I would like you to write the next section of the story. I want you to imagine the girl is looking into your house (or wherever you were) on Christmas Day, so you can describe exactly what you got up to!

I want you to write the description in the top half of the page and then you can either add images from the net or print it off and draw your own picture underneath. I would also like you to give it a title using ‘FONTWORK’ and also put a border on the page. Make sure you check your spellings before sending it to print please.

Have fun and remember, be as descriptive as possible. I wasn’t there but I want to feel like I was!!

Thank you!
