Y5 are going multi-lingual!

Posted in Uncategorized on January 28, 2007 by year5

Last week, in our SEAL lesson, on the theme of ‘Going for Goals,’ we decided to learn another language, for a bit of fun!

We learnt how to count to ten in Japanese, in about five minutes!

We used actions to help us remember them, because we believe that we learn best when see, say and do at the same time!

Who can remember it?

1 = ichi (itchy - scratch)

2 = ni (knee - scratch your knee)

3 = san (sun - point to the sky)

4 = shi (she - point to a girl)

5 = go (go - walk)

6 = roku (rock - rock the baby)

7 = shichi (chichi - sneeze twice)

8 = hachi (hatchi - put on hat)

9 = kyu (coo - like a dove)

10 = ju (chew - chew gum)

We all have individual skills and talents so next week, I’m looking forward to seeing which new skills you can teach each other in our SEAL session!

Cheer Up Liverpool Fans!

Posted in Uncategorized on January 11, 2007 by year5

Just a note for all you sad Liverpool fans who are, quite rightly, depressed at the recent lack of form in the cup games. Liverpool did actually have a victory in a Cup game at the weekend, in the Women’s FA Cup, and my team, Wolves (Ladies), were on the receiving end!

Liverpool Ladies won 3-2 in extra time. My sister, Anne Blackham, is Player/Manager of Wolves Ladies and she scored a rare goal in the game. Her celebrations (how embarrassing!) and highlights of the game can be seen if you go to the following website:

www.thefa.com

and then click on the womens section and click on the video link for Wolves v Liverpool.

(PS: She’s the crazy one who runs right up to the camera when she scores!!!!)

Get Well Soon Megan!

Hi Megan

Just a note to say we are sorry that you hurt your foot in Judo.

We all think you are SO brave!

We are missing you in school so hurry up and get better soon .

Take care.

Love from all of Y5.

The Simpsons!

As you know, in Dance, we have been basing our work on THE SIMPSONS!

Yesterday, Year 5 were ready to perform the opening credits to the new Simpsons Movie!

Each ‘family’ worked really well together to produce a dance sequence which included lots of actions and reactions between characters as well as exaggerated gestures to make it more cartoon like. Each group had a starting and finishing pose and tried hard to alter their sequence with the dynamics of the music - a difficult task.

Take a look at the pictures and see what you think!
