Football

By the way, Mr Rafferty, you appear to have missed the most important team from your football vote.

I’m highly offended and I don’t think Big Mick McCarthy will ever forgive you!

Design Technology

Posted in Uncategorized on December 15, 2006 by year5

Over the past few weeks, in DT, we have been working on a project called ‘Talking Textiles.’

The aim was to retell a story through artwork.

As we are studying the Victorians, we decided to base our art work on ‘The Little Match Girl’. We worked in pairs and split the story up into sixteen sections. Then, we worked with our partners to design our tile. Each of us created a tile for our section of the story.

At the end, we put all the tiles together on a patchwork quilt, to retell the whole story.

We are really proud of ur work and the display looks fantastic!

Writing in Y5

Posted in Uncategorized on December 9, 2006 by year5

Last week, we were looking at writing instructions.

We read some instructions from the Victorian Times, which taught us how to make ice cream. Then we used some visual instructions to write a set of instructions for making an old favourite,  ’Apple Snow’. Mr Rafferty used to love this when he was a boy!

Everyone worked really well, but George Walsh went that little but further. During wet play, he copied out his instructions and (with the help of his mum), he went home and made some that night!

Well done George.

Oh, and by the way, hands off Jack! George told me you kept going back to the pan to sneak some more!

Natural High Slogan Winners

Posted in Uncategorized on December 5, 2006 by year5

Well done to Y5’s winners, Chloe Coughlin and Abbey James.

Chloe’s winning entry was…

A natural high is the best thing in life

But drugs will always get you in strife!

And Abbey’s slogan…

If you take drugs it will affect your health

So don’t take drugs and have all the wealth!

Well done girls!
